This tough little plant comes from South Africa, grows upright like a tall grass from rhizomes, and comes in green or variegated leaves.  It is another very easy to grow choice for the garden.  The leaves are edible, with a slight scent of garlic.  Small star shaped flowers, a pinkish lavender cover the tips from spring thru fall in warm areas.  It is happiest in full sun, but tolerates some shade and grows to approximately 2 feet....easy to divide and transplant.
